Henderson's of Edinburgh - Restaurant & Deli
Henderson’s restaurant and deli occupy a prominent corner building on Hanover Street, just a few minutes’ walk from the heart of the city. Founded in 1962 by Scottish pioneer Janet Henderson, this business stays true to its founding principles and continues to serve fresh, wholesome vegetarian food at affordable prices. Firmly rooted in the cultural and culinary life of the city, Henderson’s hosts meetings, concerts and exhibitions, and features live music every night.
A bright basement room houses the original canteen restaurant and has something for every time of the day, from breakfast through to supper. Its daily-changing menu features fresh salads, filling soups and hot dishes, such as lasagne, curries, tagines and the restaurant’s famous vegetarian haggis. If you’ve a sweet tooth, homemade cakes and desserts range from healthy driedfruit salad to indulgent gateaux. Henderson’s also runs a shop and deli, where you can buy fresh organic bread and scones made daily in its bakery, or some ‘food to go’ for a picnic or desk-bound lunch.
Henderson’s Bistro, just around the corner on Thistle Street, offers full table service and relaxed all-day dining. Henderson’s at St John’s, a new café to add to the collection, brings the famous Henderson’s name to the West End of Princes Street.
