Biblos
Whether you’ve been hitting Edinburgh’s High Street, exploring the Old Town or taking a stroll in Meadow Park, Biblos is the place to refuel, revive and relax. The leather sofas and wood panelling make Biblos an elegant yet comfortable dining destination, and its popularity with professionals and students alike creates a buzzing atmosphere.
The food is well-priced without compromising on quality, and there is something for everyone on the menu. Although we dined in the evening, Biblos also offers a daytime menu featuring everything from a traditional breakfast to yummy nachos.
Our aubergine timbales with goat’s cheese, red onion jam and red pepper sauce were a vegetarian delight, while the haggis balls in beer batter with neeps and tatties provided a refreshing twist on a Scottish classic. My main course of fillet steak was seared to perfection, and my companion’s sea bass served with fennel and Pernod sauce just melted in the mouth. We followed with the homemade sticky toffee pudding, which was pure indulgence.
The bar staff at Biblos are beverage experts and, if you are unsure which tipple to go for, they will gladly offer their recommendations. The Biblos Mary – a mix of vodka, tomato juice, lemon, tangy spices and seasoning poured over cubed ice – is particularly delicious.
