Barioja and Iggs are two Spanish-influenced eateries that represent owner Iggy Campos' 20 years of experience in the industry. Sitting next to one another on Jeffrey Street, this pair of welcoming eateries have cornered the market when it comes to this sociable way of dining. While Iggs takes a more finedining approach to Spanish cuisine, Barioja focuses on the fun and fiesta of tapas.

The laid-back atmosphere at Barioja is just perfect for whiling away a few hours enjoying the company of friends and some Iberian flavour. The rioja colour scheme, spiral staircase and canvasses adorning the walls all contribute to the unfussy and relaxing dining experience you can enjoy here. A mixed clientele comes to enjoy succulent cordero (lamb chops), ensalada de judias (bean salad, peppers and red onions) and well-known favourites like patatas bravas. Many ingredients are imported directly from Spain for real authenticity, detectable in every mouthful of spicy chorizo cooked in cider with red and green peppers, and flavourful meatballs with pine nuts - just delicious. Gambas in a punchy garlic sauce are fantastic, and also feature in the paella - a vegetarian option of which is available too.

The tapa has come a long way from its Spanish roots, but here in Edinburgh Iggy and the team have managed to recreate the aromas and tastes that will make you reminisce about days in the sun.
