The White Lion
This large, low-beamed restaurant, housed in The White Lion, caters for couples and large family parties, as well as being a place where two old friends can sit by an open fire and enjoy conversation and good beer. The decor is tastefully 'old world', the tables well spaced, the soft furnishings comfortable and the service friendly.
The standard menu caters for all dietary needs, with traditional pub food like homemade pies and Welsh lamb dishes offered alongside pasta, salads, fish and chargrilled meats. We made our selection from the specials board and started with tomato soup and deep-fried Brie with a cranberry and port sauce, both of which were generous helpings. For the main course we went for roast partridge with shallot and red cherry sauce, and red snapper fillet with lemongrass sauce - both were accompanied by a generous supply of mixed vegetables and hand-cut chips. The wine list offers a good range of New and Old World wines, while at the bar there is an exciting range of local and international beers from as far afield as Japan.
From a list of desserts and cheeses we selected apple pie with custard and a selection of ice creams - the perfect way to round off such a delicious meal. The White Lion is fast becoming a favourite among locals and visitors to the area, so be sure to book your table now.
