Merely a stone’s throw from the picturesque market town of Cowbridge is the Hare & Hounds pub and restaurant, in the centre of the small village of Aberthin. The original building, which has been sympathetically extended, dates from the 15th Century and boasts thick stone walls and low ceilings, creating a charming environment for diners looking for some delicious home-cooked food.

The three-course Sunday lunch menu provides a variety of beautifully presented dishes, and the accommodating staff make this an ideal place for families and couples alike. The current management team has been in place for around two years and they plan for the menu – which has been created by their excellent new chef – to be offered on weekday lunchtimes and evenings in the near future.

For now, you can either book in advance for a special Sunday meal, or enjoy an impromptu treat after relaxing in the public bar. If you have a special day to celebrate, the restaurant room can be hired privately for up to 70 people. The atmosphere throughout is warm and welcoming, with a real log fire and cosy corners to enjoy. The Hare & Hounds offers good food and a convivial atmosphere in a lovely rural setting – all the ingredients necessary to make a return visit a certainty, for loyal locals and visitors alike.
