There’s nothing quite like the Welsh Banquets at Cardiff Castle to give you an authentic taste of Wales. Cardiff Castle has stood for nearly 2000 years and has seen many battles, invasions and historic events, and you can start your evening with a 30-minute tour of the spectacular castle apartments before the banquet begins. Guests are welcomed with mead tasting in the bar, before being led into the 15th- Century Undercroft Hall for a four-course feast of local dishes. The menu currently starts with Glamorgan sausages with a delicious red onion marmalade, followed by two substantial courses of cawl and chicken. Finally, end the dining experience with an unusual honey cream mousse with a hint of Welshcake. Regular Welsh Banquets are available from January to November, with special Christmas Banquets taking place throughout December. Places at these banquets must be pre-booked and they are also available on an exclusive hire basis for corporate groups or weddings.
