Vegetarian Food Studio
Within five minutes of the Penarth Road bridge, you’ll find the cultural meltingpot of Grangetown, home to the Vegetarian Food Studio. This unassuming eatery offers a humungous array of vegetarian and vegan meals from Western India. The captivating decor consists largely of the awards the ‘VFS’ has won from the likes of The Guardian and Lonely Planet. As a committed carnivore I had my doubts, but the VFS platter mix quickly converted me, especially the light vegetable samosas and the super-tasty daal kachori – made with mung bean daal. The massala mushroom nu saak was delightful, as was a dish of roasted aubergines. The website is great too, with 70 to 100 students ordering tiffins (home-cooked Indian vegetarian meals) online each day. Drop by in person to get the full effect of this exciting restaurant.
