The Village Kitchen & Bar
The people at The Village Kitchen & Bar believe in a Continental way of life - feast on whatever you want, whenever you want. Be it a full English at 9am or pan-fried duck breast at 9pm, there's something for everyone at this relaxed and friendly venue.
Housed in Cardiff's trendy Whitchurch area, the recent re-branding of this former brasserie has made it rather chameleon like. The ideal place to kick back and enjoy a pint in the bar area, The Village's inspired à la carte menu also makes it a great place to enjoy that special occasion away from the bustle of the city. Consolidating its menu and offering a range of fish, meat and vegetarian options, the experienced chefs at The Village prepare everything fresh, keeping quality high. We sampled the pan-fried mushrooms on garlic ciabatta topped with melted cheese and the deep-fried Brie with redcurrant jelly to start - both filling as snacks alone. The fillets of lemon sole were served with a delicious homemade tartare sauce, a superb choice but a tough one, with haricot bean ragu with feta cheese also catching my eye.
Browns, creams, comfy suede sofas and wooden flooring make The Village smart yet unpretentious, and a function room on the second level is ideal for private parties. So eat, drink and be merry at The Village, whatever time of day.
