The first thing you will notice when you walk into The Coach House is its cosy, welcoming atmosphere, created by exposed beams, an open fire and friendly, hospitable staff. Warm and homely, it's the perfect setting in which to sit back, relax, and enjoy some lovely food.

The menu offers an excellent range of dishes, and while it offers classics like bangers and mash (£6.95) and fish and chips (£7.25), there are various pasta and seafood dishes as well as a daily specials menu. A starter of seafood au gratin (£5.95) comes highly recommended - smoked fish, mussels, squid, prawns and cod enrobed in a cheese sauce and topped with a herb crumb. This tasty dish arrives with warm ciabatta - perfect for mopping up every last drop of delicious sauce.

From the specials menu, the king prawns with chilli dip (£3.95) are a great start to any meal. The large, succulent prawns are encased in golden, crunchy breadcrumbs and the chilli dip lends a pleasing kick to the dish. Of the main courses, the game pie (£8.95) is a real treat for devoted carnivores. Packed with venison, rabbit and pheasant, bound with rich gravy and topped with the flakiest pastry, this is pub food at its very best. The fresh salmon supreme (£8.50) served with new or mashed potatoes, is a great choice and sure to go down well with fish-lovers. The lime and coriander butter with which the chargrilled salmon fillet is glazed beautifully complements the delicate taste of the fish. If you have any room at the end of your meal, do try the 'chocolate lumpy pumpy' - a truly decadent way to round things off.

The food at The Coach House is exactly what you'd expect from a good traditional pub - hearty and warming, and served with a smile.
