From the windows of New House Country Hotel and Restaurant, the lights of Cardiff sparkle like jewels in a giant's belt. In daylight the view encompasses the sea and the islands Flathome and Steephome, as well as the beautiful Devon coastline. This 34-cover restaurant has an à la carte menu to equal the views. Attentive but unobtrusive staff, subtle lighting and classical music complete the picture.

The menu is distinct. Head chef Gareth Phillips delights the senses with unique, artistic dishes from the finest local ingredients (two courses for £24, three for £28.50). Starters include Char Su king prawns with tempura vegetables spun with honey and soy dressing, or try a main course of Indonesian salmon laska with fine rain noodles.

Part of the Town and Country Group, this three-star hotel, awarded one AA Rosette, is ornate in period style with crystal chandeliers, shuttered windows and wood burning fireplaces.

A business lunch is served in the lounge and there are three suites for meetings and seminars. A function room for private parties caters for up to 160 guests; weddings, corporate dinners and external events are all celebrated. Special dietary menus are available on request and New House provides brilliant disabled access.

Here you are awarded a very special dining experience - try it and you'll be delighted.
