Backed by Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd, Mimosa’s celebrity credentials are well known. However, this establishment has something to offer beyond the hype. The breakfast menu includes the hugely popular ‘full Welsh’ and smoked mackerel and scrambled eggs, whilst the à la carte includes favourites such as wild sea bass with crushed fennel new potatoes, the Welsh Black sirloin with hollandaise and chunky chips and the Gower Salt Marsh lamb with mint oil. The menus, which are available in Welsh and English, are supplemented by daily specials (which include a range of vegetarian options) and desserts. All dishes are homemade and make use of seasonal, local ingredients wherever possible and there is a list of over 20 wines to complement the food. Mimosa’s reasonable prices, relaxed ambience, bilingual service and knowledgeable team combine to create one of Cardiff’s finest eateries.
