Situated at the bustling end of St Mary Street, a stone's throw from the fantastic new St David's II development, Le Monde is the perfect venue for any occasion. Atmospherically lit and intimate, with banquet-style tables and magnificent decor, the restaurant exudes a unique but Continental feel, and this is reflected in the style of dining on offer.

After surveying the chalkboards covering every wall, brimming with the fine food and wine available, you are invited to choose your food from the impressive glass market-style counter. Then you can sit back and relax, while the team of chefs prepare and cook your meal in the centrepiece open kitchen.

Le Monde offers a vast selection of local and exotic seafood, priced by weight depending on the daily market supply. Specialties include local sea bass baked in rock salt, whole Dover sole and massive tiger prawns served sizzling in garlic butter. If fish is not your thing, you can choose between what are arguably the finest steaks in South Wales and an impressive range of dishes, including duck, lamb and poultry, daily vegetarian dishes and a choice of seasonal specialties. If you still have room, a selection of homemade desserts is always available, as well as Continental cheeses. Le Monde's fabulous lunchtime menu offers two courses for £10, making it the perfect shopping stop.

For that important meeting or conference, or for private dining, The Gallery is a totally self- contained private facility catering for up to 120 guests, while the Board Room is a smaller venue ideal for up to 35 guests - contact the events manager on 029 2023 4131 or visit the website.

Le Monde is great for any occasion, and it's easy to see why there are so many regulars - they come as much for the atmosphere as for the food.
