Now in its eighth year, Peens has become a Broadstairs institution and is a relaxed destination for locals and visitors alike. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and create a vibrant atmosphere both day and night. The kitchen team, headed by owner Matt, produces as much in-house as possible, including curing their own bacon and fish and making ketchup and aioli. The ever-changing menu reflects the seasons, utilising what is available from local fisherman and surrounding farms. Coffee is from Monmouth and much of the meat used is from Monkshill Farm. Stand-out winter dishes include the slow-braised Kentish beef with mustard and herb dumplings, while summer dining is focused on local grilled seafood. The wine list includes bottles from a couple of Kent vineyards, and local beers and contemporary twists on classic cocktails are also available. Peens specialises in accommodating parties both in the bar and at local beaches, often serving paella for up to 100 guests.
Open: Mon-Thurs 10am-11pm; Fri & Sat 10am-midnight; Sun 10am-11pm (closed on Mondays from Oct-Apr)
