This Holiday Inn couldn’t be more accessibly located – it’s just a 15-minute drive from central Bristol, seconds from the M32, and right next door to the University of the West of England and Frenchay Hospital. Its two excellent restaurants, The Junction and Sampans (their fantastic Oriental restaurant), serve up some unmissable fare. We dined at The Junction and tucked into starters of smooth duck paté with warm soft ciabatta and aromatic Thai-style crabcakes. Our mains comprised succulent grilled swordfish over homemade tomato relish – one from the specials board – and a steak and Spitfire ale pie, in buttery short-crust pastry with creamy mashed potato. The menu changes throughout the year, but you’ll be assured fantastic options on every visit. The friendly staff, a professional welcome and an incredible 211 comfortable rooms make the Holiday Inn Filton a must for those wishing to stay near Bristol.
Open: Mon-Sun 6.30pm-10pm (Sampans is closed on Sunday)
