Ristorante La Piazza
Ristorante La Piazza’s convenient, central location is far from the only reason to book a table at this charming Italian eatery. The interior is spotless and stylish, and out front there is a cheerful terrace covered with blooming hanging baskets and plenty of seating for alfresco dining. Ristorante La Piazza’s real appeal, though, lies in its large, varied menu of fresh, authentic pasta, pizza, risotto, steak, chicken, fish and veal dishes.
On our visit we selected the mozzarella in carrozza starter – fried mozzarella in a rustic tomato sauce – and baked aubergine with minced meat from the changing specials selection. Main courses followed, and we enjoyed linguine picanti (a dish of spicy sausages, chillies and pasta) and filetto buongustaio – a beautifully cooked steak served with a bacon, mushroom, wine, paprika and cream sauce. We finished our evening of indulgence with profiteroles from the traditional dessert cabinet and a light vanilla pannacotta.
Candlelight and a subtle soundtrack of Italian music helped to create a feeling of escapism, while friendly staff offered smiling, helpful service throughout our meal. Reasonable prices (main courses range from £10 to £25), ample portions and quality Italian cuisine – Ristorante La Piazza has got the Italian-restaurant experience down to a fine art.
