Voted ‘Best Restaurant in Yorkshire and the North East’ by the Hi-Life Dining Club, Sam’s Chop House excels in serving British cuisine with a contemporary twist. Packed with original features, mouldings and panelling, this restaurant shouts ‘quality’ as soon as you step through the door. Located in the heart of Leeds city centre, Sam’s Chop House provides traditional hospitality in comfortable and welcoming surroundings.
A British institution dating back as far as the 16th Century, chop houses were originally places where businessmen dined over plates of grilled meats, washed down with flagons of ale and fine wines. Visit today, however, and you’ll find a slightly more sophisticated menu. Expect to see traditional British fare served with pride and a big juicy smile. Our ancestors would surely be proud of starters such as homemade crispy corned beef hash cake, ten days in the making, and chicken stuffed with homemade black pudding. The main course dishes echo the same flavours of old with Sam’s homemade steak and kidney pudding, traditional fish and chips and Sam’s gourmet fish pie, while the more contemporary palate is still kept happy with the likes of pan-seared sea bream and mushroom Wellington. For those who prefer something a little lighter, Sam’s offers a diverse and interesting salad menu featuring British ingredients such as Scottish smoked salmon, fine Yorkshire cheeses and dry-cured smoked bacon from Ilkley. Menus change four times a year, with the seasons, so you can be sure whatever choice you make at Sam’s will be nutritious and delicious.
Wine is a passion at Sam’s, which is probably why their wine list is packed with bottles of awardwinning fine wines, and was named ‘Best Wine List’ at the Leeds Restaurant Awards. Quality caskconditioned ales, including best-selling Sam’s special bitter, also contribute to a great meal out. A chop house is more than just a restaurant or pub, it’s a meeting place where friends and colleagues have been enjoying themselves for decades; you would be well advised to make Sam’s your new haunt.
